SYNOPSIS
“A Heart Is A Beach” is a story of an unlikely friendship, set in coastal Bridlington, in Yorkshire. It’s a story about love, nature, magic, beauty and the bravery to feel it all. Even if it may kill you. Even if it may rip your heart out.
Written by Scarlett Stitt, directed by me, with brilliant performances (yet to be acted out) by Nina Schlautman and Scarlett (mentioned above).
EXCERPT
...Mouse fucked up. Big time. Like to the point of having a literal heart attack. All the cynicism and nihilism and snarkiness that was supposed to save her from being an actual person has been not-so-quietly killing her from the inside out.
She needs love and intimacy and connection - fast. But her brother, father and mother don’t really care if she dies. Not at this point - anyway.
Brigid is homeless, but not without hope. She is connected to the pain of the world in a way that would make a grown man go into sensory overload. She holds more, she is braver, she looks at the bad bad world and somehow sees beauty where most don’t. But she SHOULDN’T be carrying all of that on her own.
Why are some of us born with too much water inside? And why are some of us running away from carrying our share of the load?...
